As movie theatres (or as we in India very lovingly call them, cinema halls) slowly start opening up across the country, a plethora of Bollywood movies are also being kicked into gear for a re-release schedule, starting with these six flicks.
In the coming weeks, these flicks will be joined by new Bollywood, Hollywood and regional film releases, including the highly anticipated theatrical runs of Ranveer Singh’s ‘83 and Akshay Kumar’s cop caper Sooryavanshi. The former has been the talk of the town since Singh debuted his first look as Kapil Dev, the force and leader behind India’s 1983 world cup victory. As we await the film’s first official trailer and more details, Twitter is abuzz with Singh’s newly announced film, Cirkus. After the massive success of Simmba, Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh will join forces again for Cirkus. The film will feature the actor alongside Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez. According to Hindustan Times, the upcoming production will be Shetty’s take on Williams Shakespeare’s play, “The Comedy of Errors,” and per Taran Adarsh, Singh will play a double role in this flick – his first. Cirkus will be shot in Mumbai, Goa and Ooty, and will release by the end of 2021.
2. Badhaai Do
Badhaai Ho (2018) is getting a sequel! On the second anniversary of the film’s release, Badhaai Ho’s producers announced a sequel to the hit film, Badhaai Do, with Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. It’ll be directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni (Hunterrr) and is likely to start production in January 2021. In a report published by Hindustan Times, the daily has stated that Rao will be seen essaying the role of a cop – the only male cop in a women-led police station – and Pednekar will play the role of a school PT teacher in this flick.
3. Unfair & Lovely
Slated to release in 2021, Unfair & Lovely, starring Randeep Hooda and Ileana D’Cruz will go on floors next month. The production will mark Balwinder Singh Janjua’s directorial debut. He’s credited with the screenplay of Saand Ki Aankh, an award-winning film that starred Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles.
4. Untitled film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Fresh off the success of Serious Men, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has signed a new untitled project. The film is going to be directed by Sejal Shah, written by Bhavesh Mandalia and produced by Umesh Shukla Gaurav Shukla Ashish Wagh Bhavesh Mandalia Sejal Shah. It is expected to release in 2021.
5. Untitled film starring Rajkummar Rao
Rajkummar Rao will also be seen in Dinesh Vijan’s next film along with Kriti Sanon. Per Taran Adarsh, the project will be directed by Abhishek Jain and also star Aparshakti Khurrana, Paresh Rawal and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles.
