POINTS TABLE | FIXTURES
Even though MS Dhoni’s men have lost seven games out of 10 and are at the bottom of the table with only six points, they still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the playoff stage if they win all their remaining four games, starting with the match against Mumbai Indians in Sharjah on Friday.
But it won’t be easy.
KXIP might have brought Mumbai Indians’ five-match winning streak to a halt in the last game but the four-time champions have been one of the in-form teams of this IPL.
Mumbai are currently third in the points table with six wins and can catch up with leaders Delhi Capitals again with another victory. With the second-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore also vying for the top-two spot, Rohit Sharma & Co will not take a below-par and depleted CSK lightly.
MS Dhoni said he would make changes after their loss to Royals. But as long as CSK have a mathematical chance, it’s difficult to see Dhoni ringing in wholesale changes. Only Kedar Jadhav and Piyush Chawla may make way for the younger lot.
