Most parents are literally willing to go the distance for their children. This couple proved just that. As per a report in The New Indian Express, Selvam and Sangeetha travelled by scooter and covered 1400 km, Mumbai to Pudukkottai, to make sure they were there for their son’s 6th birthday.
They had sent their 2 kids to Sangeetha’s parents in March so that they could spend some time with their grandparents.
Then the lockdown began and the plans to bring them back got thwarted.
“I had not spent even seven days away from my kids, and now it has been seven months,” said Sangeetha.
“We decided to surprise my son Yogeshwar by being there for his sixth birthday,” she added.
Since no trains were available and flights were expensive, they chose to go by road.
The distance was covered in 37 hours.
We halted at Kolhapur on day 1 and Bengaluru on day 2. We stayed at lodges to cut costs. At Bengaluru, the bike had to be serviced to ensure a smooth ride. On the first day, we covered 300km and on subsequent days we covered 800 km and 398 km,” said Selvam.
Selvam owns a grocery shop in Mumbai. The trip cost nearly Rs 7000.
Just goes to show what parents are willing to do for their kids.
