Cyberpunk 2077 is right around the corner and it would be an understatement to say that the game is the most anticipated RPG of this decade. While the game is all set to launch on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, it has been met with much hype around the world including India. We haven’t seen so much interest from the Indian gaming community ever since GTA V and it seems like many gamers have gone the extra mile in preparation for the launch of the game. We reached out to some interesting individuals who have been excited about the game’s launch and how they have been preparing themselves for the launch of the game. We came across individuals who have taken 20 days off from work to play the game while some have built themselves powerful PCs to experience the game. Here’s how the Indian gaming community has been prepping themselves for one of the most anticipated games of all time:
Koushik Godbole – Mumbai/Bangalore
“My introduction to Cyberpunk 2077 was not when it was announced but during E3 2015. I finished watching Sony’s conference and came across the teaser for the game among the recommended section. I watched the video and grew curious to learn more about the developers and the game. The hype surrounding the game was surely there at the time but was not loud enough. It all changed after the 2018’s E3. What began as CDPR hacking the Microsoft conference, ended with a new beginning for something that had merely been in people’s mind. To think that people like myself and many others across the world are upgrading their PCs and consoles in anticipation of this game, should be proof enough that CDPR has found the formula to create innovative and beautiful games.
There sure have been ups and downs along the journey for Cyberpunk 2077, but as Shigeru Miyamoto said “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad”. I surely have not been this excited for a game in a long time and went as far as building a new PC and taking a few days off work.”
I came across a pair of Cosplayer artists who recreated costumes of V and Johnny Silverhand based on trailers and whatever we’ve seen so far. Here’s how the duo made costumes from using materials they found in their local markets and why they chose the two specific characters in their own words:
“The Character I’m cosplaying is V, from the upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. V’s Jacket is made out of PU leather, Stickers and logos that were hand-drawn by me using acrylic paint. I bought an olive greenish-brown PU leather sheet from the market and stitched it with my sewing machine. The hardest part was making the collar as there are colour changing LEDs inside the collar. What we made can also be controlled by remote control. There’s a sensor and power supply unit back of the jacket which powers the LED collar. You can change to any colour you want by the press of a button on the remote. The Militech handgun is made of EVA foam and chrome and black painted with acrylic.
The science fiction genre has been always a part of me. So when Cyberpunk 2077 was announced I couldn’t help myself. I wanted to cosplay V as I was in love with the jacket design. All the prosthetics, implants, the mantis blade looked so dope. Cyberpunk 2077 will finally let us experience the futuristic dream we always wanted to be part of, I also wanted to write a cyberpunk story which will be based on futuristic India, hopefully, I will complete my story next year.” – Suvasish Das
“The Character I’m playing is Johnny Silverhand from the upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. The costume making Process was pretty simple because it only consists of a Vest which in itself is bit complex. I made the base out of foam, added Armour pieces and then covered the whole thing with Black faux leather. The Samurai logo was also hand-painted by me using acrylic colours.
As for Johnny Silverhand (literally), I made layers of thin foam and then spray painted on top of it. After that, I added many details like wiring and cables to make it look closest to the in-game model.
I’ve always been a fan of the Cyberpunk Genre and watch every show related to the genre like Altered Carbon, Blade Runner or Animes like Alita and Ghost in the shell. And there’s something in that genre that exaggerates everything from today’s technology such as body modifications and shareable consciousness. These features always excite me.
As for Johnny Silverhand, he has become my favourite character simply because I’m a huge fan of Keanu Reeves. Johnny is a legend in the ‘Night City’ who has a shady love story and also has a mixed sense of morality where one doesn’t know if he is a good or a bad guy. He’s also a bit crazy, who is a full-on Rockstar mixed with his military past and he will also the main guide of V throughout the game” – Shaurya Shaw
Anand Chhibba – New Delhi
“I have been looking forward to the Cyberpunk 2077 release this December ever since it was first announced in 2013 as I am a huge fan of RPG games more so of those RPGs that have an insane level of details in their open-world environments. We’ve had our fair share of open-world games that feel like lived-in environments such as medieval-themed games like Skyrim, Witcher, Dragon Age etc but nothing really major in the modern era. However, there are no games where we have worlds such as the ones depicted in cult classics like the Matrix, Blade Runner, and Robocop.
As I grew up watching these movies and seeing technology grow around me, I was sold on the idea of a game where everything in the world will be neon-filled like the world of ‘Blade Runner’ with full-body augmentations and a world where everyone is a tech-junkie. Cyberpunk 2077 being a CDPR title, we all know how good they are at creating lived-in open worlds (Witcher 3 being the greatest example of this generation); I’m excited to explore the Night City for that very reason. Since this last generation we didn’t have our fair share of such lived-in open worlds; ending this generation/starting this generation with such a game would be a great treat for all gamers.
I am ready for cyberpunk 2077 and will be diving into the game uninterrupted for 15 days as I have taken off from office work and I am ready to take on the role of V as a street kid in the night city.”

“The first time I’ve heard about the game was from the first gameplay trailer showing the female ‘V’. I saw the gameplay and wasn’t impressed with the gameplay as it felt like a generic shooter. I wasn’t much interested in Cyberpunk 2077 until they released a newer trailer. This one got me interested! I started researching more on Cyberpunk 2077 came to know that it’s from the developers behind the Witcher series!. It got me more excited for the game however there was one thing worried me a lot. This was about my current laptop which is on its outdated state. It runs current-gen games at 25 FPS on low settings (Specs :- GTX 860m , intel core i7 4th gen, 8GB RAM) and it made me worried about how the game would run.
Then CD Projekt showed the trailer having Johnny Silverback played by Keanu Reeves. I was excited and decided to upgrade my laptop to a new one. That’s when Covid 19 ruined my chances. Laptop sales hiked up like crazy and were being sold at insane prices for minimal specifications. I waited till August until I lost my mind and then just decided to get my new laptop (Leigon 5i). It wasn’t the top-tier specifications laptop but it did it got the job done. The jump from 25 to 60 FPS feels so satisfying. Then CD Projekt Red released these night wire episodes which showed incredible reflections. I was so damn excited to get it now also at that time the game was set to release in September. I quickly went to ‘Games The Shop’ to place my preorder. The best part was a physical copy gives you free physical goodies and an official T-shirt! I always wanted to own official merchandise from games! I immediately hit the preorder button and I am currently waiting for December 10th to finally play as a nomad netrunner in night city!”
